Carl Graves Leaves $1 Million for Scholarship Fund

The Carl Graves Endowment Scholarship Fund at The Community Foundation was established in 2019 through a bequest to the City of Lake Elsinore from Carl Graves to provide scholarships to graduates of Lake Elsinore Unified School District High Schools.

carl-graves-2019“This is a significant gift to TCF, and it represents a strong partnership for doing good. We look forward to helping the City of Lake Elsinore uplift students in the community,” said Michelle Decker, President and CEO of The Community Foundation. “We are honored to continue Carl Graves’ legacy.”

The inaugural scholarship fund offers three four-year scholarships of approximately $4,000 and one four-year scholarship of $6,000 for a college ROTC candidate to be awarded in the spring and disbursed in the fall of each year. Each Carl Graves’ Scholar will each have a local mentor who will aid and assist the student throughout their education.

The Carl Graves Endowment Scholarship Fund is named in honor of Carl Graves, who served as the City Treasurer of Lake Elsinore. Carl Graves was a United States Army World War II Veteran and a mathematics teacher at various High Schools in Southern California, including Lake Elsinore High School.
