Rancho La Quinta Country Club Awards 7 Scholarships

Rancho La QuintaMore than 120 residents of Rancho La Quinta Country Club (RLQCC) had a chance to meet five scholarship recipients of The Rancho La Quinta Country Club Fund at their annual fundraiser event in January.  It was an evening of celebration for the 2018 RLQCC Education Fund scholarship recipients and residents and to learn how they can continue supporting the fund.

The highlight of the event was the testimonials from the scholarship recipients. One recipient said that, “this scholarship opened the door for a brighter future and will play a role in preparing me for the teacher I hope to become.” Another recipient said, “this award gives me more courage to continue to turn my dreams into reality.” Two of the seven scholarship recipients are attending out of state universities and could not attend, but took the time to write wonderful letters which were read to the attendees.

Rancho La Quinta“The real success of the evening was that our donors got to meet and mingle with the students and the parents, who are our employees,” said Karen Ackland, member of the RLQCC Education Fund Committee. “The parents were beaming with pride. Nothing is more powerful than seeing first-hand the difference it makes to contribute to their children’s future.”

A total of 7 students received scholarships. The scholarship recipients are:
  • Fabiola Corral – attending La Sierra University
  • Andrea Hernandez – attending Imperial Valley College
  • Emmanuel Hernandez – attending Fullerton College
  • Emigdio Lua – attending Cal State San Bernardino
  • Melina Pechous – attending University of Iowa
  • Bianca Pechous – attending Northern Arizona University
  • Isela Pelayo – attending Cal State San Bernardino
The scholarships were made possible by the Rancho La Quinta Country Club Education Fund at The Community Foundation. The fund was established in 2016 to support educational opportunities for the staff at Rancho La Quinta Country Club and their dependents.
